We create, learn, and grow everyday!
We strive to support each child and their family, and we believe in kindness and patience in all of our interactions. We cultivate an engaging learning environment that enables your child to grow and improve their communication.
A play based approach to treatment
Jennifer realizes that each and every child is a unique individual. Therapy is fun and motivating at all times! Her philosophy is for each and every child to achieve their goals while building a child’s confidence, and her desire is to empower and educate parents in the process. Speech Superstars creates opportunities using a play-based learning environment to assist children in reaching their speech and language goals. Play is engaging, child-led, and elevates the child’s spirits and brightens their outlook on life. Play therapy can also help a child cope with difficult emotions and find solutions to problems. Jennifer is passionate about working in a private practice setting, as it allows her the opportunity to build strong relationships with a child and their family. Family training is an integral part of the therapy process; therefore, caregivers are heavily involved in their child’s program.
Jennifer is a classically trained musician and a professional vocalist. Her training in melodic intonation therapy which uses singing, tapping, rhyming and pitch modulation to improve word retrieval, is extensive.
Treatment for language
Therapy may include using songs, rhymes, and combining 2 words together.
We follow your child’s lead. Engaging in pretend play helps to build your child’s language skills. Your child will be able to ask and answer questions and improve his or her vocabulary.
Treatment for pragmatics
Therapy may include: teaching your child new skills to manage their emotions and “wait” time; learning turn taking skills; using appropriate gestures; improving facial expressions; and increasing eye contact to improve their interactions with others.
Treatment for speech sounds
Therapy may include teaching your child “where” their articulators (teeth, lips, tongue, and jaw) need to go to make a sound. Your child will be able to learn the correct way to pronounce sounds, tell which sounds are right or wrong, practice sounds in many different words, and pronounce these sounds in short phrases and sentences.
